You will need to create a password, which along with your username or email address will be used to login to your account. Please follow all the requirements needed to create a strong password. Split Happy offers self-help “Do-It-Yourself” (DIY) software that guides you through all three (3) stages of your divorce process. All you need is to answer the questions in our questionnaire. At the end of each stage, you will be provided with a complete set of forms needed to proceed with your divorce case and submit them to the court and/or your spouse/domestic partner. Please note that we are not giving you legal advice through our DIY tools.

Our DIY tools are accessible through three (3) packages that you can subscribe for: “Starter”, “Advanced” and “Premium”. Premium features include one hour of online Mediation Services per month. You can also directly book a separate Mediation session with one of our mediators by choosing a convenient date and time from available slots.

The average length of the DIY membership depends on how complicated is your case, as well as your pace. In general, the process can take 6 months. We strongly recommend keeping your membership until you receive the final judgment, just in case any issues arise during your divorce process.

We will charge you on a monthly basis for your membership. You can cancel your subscription at any time. To cancel log into your account, go to the “SUBSCRIPTION” page, and click “cancel” on the subscribed package you want to cancel.

Please note that you will not be issued a refund, however, you will be able to continue using all the functions provided to you through your canceled subscription until the end of the paid period.

With all three packages, you will be provided with a complete set of the divorce forms that you needed to file with the court. All you need to do is to answer questions about you and your spouse during your guided online interview developed for each stage of your divorce process. At the end of each interview, the system will instantly populate your divorce forms along with the filing instructions.

The “Starter Package” provides you with a complete set of needed divorce forms with basic information filled in. The “Advanced Package” will provide you with the same complete set of needed divorce forms, but with more detailed (almost full) information filled in.

The “Premium Package” includes everything from the “Advanced” package PLUS one-hour Mediation Session per month.   

Yes. Depending on your role in the divorce process (petitioner or respondent) your questionnaire, as well as the divorce forms that you need to file with the court, will differ. However, as long as both of you are working towards an agreement on your divorce issues, both of you can be included in the process of completing the questionnaires from start to finish. If you prefer an individual journey, our DIY tool is set up for that too. However, each of you shall need to subscribe to it separately.

No. Our DIY tool is designed for individual journeys. Therefore, both spouses can sign up and have separate accounts at Split Happy to organize their divorce process.

However, we do recommend working together cooperatively and transparently towards an agreement on your divorce issues. This way you can both use the DIY tools to complete the questionnaires together.

Absolutely! In general, divorce is a complicated and painful process with many issues to be resolved. Whether or not you have an agreement with your spouse's divorce requires a lot of paperwork. Our DIY tools simplify the preparation of the papers needed for the divorce and help you navigate your entire divorce process from start to finish.

Sure! Whether your divorce is contested or not, there are 20+ mandatory forms you have to complete during your divorce process. Our DIY tools are configured for all cases; it provides you with the forms needed for your divorce.

However, if your divorce gets very complicated or you have domestic violence in your relationship, we recommend you consider Split Happy for second opinions and instead opt for full representation.

You can cancel your subscription at any time. All you need to do for that is to log in to your account, go to the “SUBSCRIPTION” page, and press “cancel” on the subscribed package you want to cancel.

You can always upgrade your subscription plan by going to the “SUBSCRIPTION” page and pressing “UPGRADE PLAN”. However, if you are subscribed for the “Starter Package” and want to upgrade it to the “Premium Package” you just need to go to the “PRICING” page and choose “Premium Package”.

Your membership price does not cover the fees to third parties. California’s current filing fee for a divorce petition and response is $435-$450. However, you may qualify for a fee waiver. Please also note that in case you use a process server to deliver your filed documents to your spouse, you should expect an additional fee of approximately $75 – $100. Service to another state or country sometimes involves additional fees as well.

In the “Available slots” column from the available mediators you can also choose a concrete Mediator you want to schedule a Mediation session with, which will show you only the selected mediator’s available slots.
